Bloggers in ATX

by ashleyd on July 27, 2011

In case you haven’t heard yet, I spent last weekend having the most fun ever with Ashley, Nicole, and Linda. Sometime during #BiSC I got a text from Ashley and Nicole saying they were coming to visit me this summer. No questions asked. Obviously I was super excited and told them I needed to see their faces as soon as possible. After a few emails back and forth, we picked a weekend, and their plane tickets were booked. And since Linda already lives in Austin, we knew a 4/5 Totes Awesome Channel meet-up was necessary.

At the airport on Thursday afternoon we continued our tradition of running hugs and probably scared a few people with our excited screams when we hugged Nicole. It was the best. So much excitement! We had dinner at Trudy’s where I introduced the girls to Mexican Martinis. Basically it’s a margarita with a few olives served in a giant shaker and it tastes magical. After dinner we headed back to my apartment where we ate the yummy cupcakes Linda brought us, giggled for hours while trying to make a vlog, and had an impromptu trip to CVS to replace the dying battery in my smoke detector. Thank goodness these girls have long arms who can reach the ceiling. We also watched He’s Just Not That Into You and decided that we all need a man like Ben Affleck in our lives.

Friday was marked as the day for tubing (aka floating down a river in a tube while drinking beer), but we had a few hours before embarking on that adventure, so we settled in on the couch with some coffee, our laptops, and season one of Dawson’s Creek. Do you know how ridiculous that show is because I had forgotten. Those kids in Capeside are a mess. Anyway, that afternoon we went tubing and tried to stay together via the foot tower. I’d say it was successful 78% of the time. P.S. You know it’s true friendship when you’re grabbing each other’s feet and not even thinking about how weird it is.

After tubing we had dinner at Kerbey Lane Cafe where we shared some cowboy queso. I’m not sure if the girls realized it, but they’ve now had the best queso known to man. Nicole and shared the lemon poppyseed pancakes and omg, they were to die for. We probably could have licked our plates clean. Then we went to Sonic for some drinks since we were going to sit outside for the next few hours watching a performance of Footloose in the park.

On Saturday we had another perfectly lazy morning on the couch with Dawson and Pacey. Around lunch time Peter was super thoughtful and ordered some pizza for us which we devoured in .5 seconds. That afternoon we went to see Friends With Benefit and pretty much laughed hysterically for two hours. It was the best. Saturday night we did #winetoreach, wore our tiara, laughing some more, and ate the most amazing dessert.

We went out for brunch on Sunday morning complete with hamburgers and mimosas. Then we did a little window shopping and some iced coffee buying until it was time to go to the airport. There was a love-filled group hug with Linda, a sing-a-long to Robyn’s Show Me Love, and another group hug outside the airport. And then I said good-bye to two of my most favorite people in the world.

The weekend was really so much fun, I wouldn’t even be exaggerating to say it was the best weekend I’ve had in months. This recap doesn’t even do it justice, but I wanted to have the words written down somewhere. I know it gets said a lot when bloggers meet, but there is something so special about spending a few days with people who get you, people who get it. It’s effortless. It’s filled with laughter and excitement and understanding. It was only a few days, but friendships were strengthened and memories were created that will last forever. Girls, I’ll see you in Boston!

I’m toying with how I can make Boston happen. :) Luckily, you’re practically my neighbor!

It sounds like you guys had a lot of fun, especially Dawson’s Creek and tubing, but I don’t see Linda in any of the pictures.

So much fun!

Linda is in the first picture! She’s not in the rest because she only got to hang out with us about half the time and when she was, she was playing photographer too. :)

Kerby Lane Cafe! Cowboy Queso! Definitely two of my favorite things about Austin.

Sounds like such an awesome weekend. Glad to hear you were able to unite with most of TAC and had a great time. :)
